This is a really delicious baijiu, with a strong flavor profile and lots of balance. It’s sweet without being saccharine, horsey without excessive barnyard tang. There’s a burst of big flavor on your tongue, and the alcohol burn happens at the end – and even that is relatively muted.
Luzhou Laojiao is one of the big brands, and their experience and quality really shows here. Look out for their lower-end versions too, which are also excellent.
Buy it: I found it at China Place Liquor City in Chicago, which has a great selection but is fairly pricey. Where else can it be found? Feel free to contribute in the comments.
